Program Structure
Emerge Dance Project is designed to challenge, inspire, and expand the artistic boundaries of every dancer. Over the course of five transformative days, dancers will immerse themselves in a dynamic and versatile dance curriculum that blends technical training, creative exploration, and artistic discovery.
A Versatile Dance Experience
Each day, dancers will participate in structured classes in a variety of dance styles and genres, led by inspiring mentors and artists. These classes will push them physically, refining their technique, versatility, and movement quality. However, Emerge is not just about dance—it’s about artistic growth. Dancers will be challenged beyond movement, diving into creative experiences that encourage them to think, explore, and create in new ways.
Two Levels of Artistic Exploration
Emerge Dance Project is designed for intermediate to advanced dancers ages 11-19 years with a well-rounded background in both technique and artistry.
To ensure each dancer is placed in the most enriching and appropriate environment for their artistic and technical growth, Emerge Dance Project offers two levels of training: Artistry Level 1 and Artistry Level 2. These levels are thoughtfully designed based on experience and ability—not just age—so that every dancer is challenged at the right pace and supported through their journey.
Artistry Level 1 is typically geared toward dancers ages 11 to 14, offering a solid foundation in technique, creative exploration and individual voice.
Artistry Level 2 is generally suited for dancers ages 15 to 19, with more advanced concepts in technique, creative exploration and performance.
However, we recognize that every dancer is unique. Age is a general guideline—not a strict rule. Dancers who fall within the Artistry Level 1 age group but demonstrate the skill, maturity, and readiness to grow further may be invited to train in Artistry Level 2. Likewise, dancers unsure of their level or who feel they may be between levels are encouraged to submit a video showcasing their movement and technique. This allows us to thoughtfully assess where they will thrive most.
If you’re unsure which level is right, we welcome you to reach out. Thoughtful placement is at the core of our process, ensuring every dancer is pushed just enough to grow, explore, and ignite their unique artistic voice—while feeling supported, inspired, and seen throughout the entire experience.
Exploratory Sessions
Dancers will be pushed through their artistic boundaries, both within movement and other creative art forms. By participating in a range of artistic classes, they'll broaden their perspectives and come to see dance as an integral part of a unified art form.
To further elevate the experience, dancers will also take part in surprise classes, where they won’t know what they’re walking into until the moment they arrive. These unexpected sessions are designed to spark curiosity, encourage risk-taking, and challenge dancers to embrace the unknown. By going in blind, they will learn to trust their instincts, adapt quickly, and move through an improvisational style of learning that strengthens both their artistry and confidence.
A Culminating In-Studio Showing
The intensive will conclude with an in-studio showing, where friends and family are invited to witness the progress, creativity, and transformation that took place throughout the week. This is more than just a performance—it’s an opportunity to experience the journey firsthand, gaining insight into the artistic process and the unique experiences the dancers engaged in.
Professional Artistry Photoshoot
As part of the Emerge Dance Project Artistry Intensive, each dancer will have the exciting opportunity to participate in a professional artistry dance photo shoot. This exclusive experience will allow students to capture their unique artistic expressions through high-quality images, showcasing their dance artistry in a creative and professional setting. This photo shoot is included in the one-week intensive, offering dancers a chance to take home stunning photographs that reflect their growth, passion, and individuality during their time at the program.
